As someone that’s been cast, crew, and audience member for a bunch of college and community theater shows, I’ve seen a number of mis-haps, it made me want to help out my friends by taking over the tech part. I know performers put lots of work into bringing things to stage and I want the performance to run smoothly instead of being distracted by things going wrong!

Besides, I’m a software developer. This tech stuff (mixing boards, lighting consoles) are actually pretty fun for me. And as a performer myself, I’m uniquely positioned as someone that has understanding of both technology and what a theatrical performance needs. If I can use my skills to help a performance succeed, I’m happy to do that.
